Coco M. van Gent, 1956, is from origin Msc, she paints since 1993 and is in basic self-taught. Her early work shows a somehow surrealistis way of painting, exclusively in the colour sienna, a tint that expresses the colour of the human body and the colour of the sun perfectly. She takes nature out of her context and uses an unexpected background, somestimes very transparent, but always in bright colours. Coco M. paints and makes collages with ink, aquarel or acryl on paper, wood and linen. She paints multiple thin layers to reach the deep warm tone she wants. The material determines the intensity of the work: on wood and Japanese paper she creates wilful shapes and on paper and linen a very detailed picture. She likes the challenge of new materials .
